US commercial gaming revenue reached an all-time record $71.92 billion in 2024, up 7.5% on 2023's $66.5 billion — the industry's fourth consecutive record year, per the American Gaming Association. Of 38 jurisdictions with operational commercial markets, 28 set new revenue records, and Q4 2024 was the best quarter on record at $18.62 billion.

Traditional casino gaming remained the largest single contributor at $49.89 billion across 492 commercial casinos, but the fastest growth came from sports betting (+25.4%) and online casino gaming, which together pushed online to 30% of all commercial gaming revenue for the first time.

Commercial operators paid an estimated $15.91 billion in direct gaming taxes to state and local governments in 2024 — a figure regularly cited in legalisation debates.
